What: Creation of Exchange Unified Messaging accounts will end
When: January 16, 2012
Why: In preparation for implementation of Google to campus
Who: All Ann Arbor campus ITS Exchange voicemail users
Action: See below. Please forward to appropriate unit administration and staff.

*************************
In preparation for the campus transition to Google Apps for Education, ITS will no longer provision ITS Exchange Unified Messaging accounts as of mid-January. At that time, ITS Exchange online request forms will no longer offer the option to connect a mailbox to voice mail and new ITS voice mail users will receive ITS Exchange Voice Mail Only accounts going forward.

The voice mail component of existing ITS Exchange Unified Messaging accounts will move to ITS Exchange Voice Mail Only as part of each units phased migration to Google. ITS will continue to support ITS Exchange voice mail and current users will retain their ability to access voice mail via the web or phone. The migration process will also include adding a forwarding rule to the new Voice Mail Only mailbox that will send voice mail messages to the user’s Google mailbox, so that they may retrieved that way as well.

This change at ITS will not affect UMHS Exchange or other non-ITS Exchange systems. Further communications will be sent to ITS Exchange Units in early January, 2012.
