Many of you may have seen a recent New York Times article or Google's own announcement of Google Compute Engine becoming generally available. This announcement and the Google Cloud Platform has no relationship to our Google Apps for Education Agreement. Our Agreement with Google covers only Core applications: Mail, Calendar, Drive, Sites, Talk/Hangouts, and Contacts. (A full list of services is also on our Website.)
If you are considering using Google Cloud Services, you are forming a new agreement with Google and may need to follow purchasing procedures to do so; please consult your purchasing representatives for advice. You should also carefully review what information will be stored in those services. If you have questions about storing data in non-Core Google services, see the Safe Computing site's Sensitive Data Guide or contact Information and Infrastructure Assurance.
