Google Inbox Now Enabled

posted Aug 16, 2016, 9:33 AM by Eric Fruth

Aw, Snap! Despite our plans to test Inbox before turning it on for the UMICH domain, Google had other plans and enabled it for us. We are in the process of thoroughly testing the user experience, but we are not able to turn off Inbox now that it has been enabled. You can read some of the highlights and differences between Inbox and Mail in our previous communication (Aug 12).

Here’s what we know so far:

  • Log in to inbox.google.com with your UMICH account to activate Inbox.

  • After that, when you log in to email.umich.edu the first time, you’ll notice a prompt to log into Inbox.

  • If you make Inbox your default, email.umich.edu will take you to Inbox.

  • If you activate Inbox with your UMICH account, you can still go back to using the Mail format.

  • If you are new to Inbox, be sure to watch the accompanying video.
