- Clearer Indication of "View" and "Comment" access in Google Docs Editors - In an attempt to make each users's access to a Google file type more clear, Google has added a blue "View only" button in the Toolbar, as well as a green "Comment only" button in the Toolbar. Users can click on the button to allow one to easily request edit access from the file owner.
- Download Microsoft Office files quickly and easily in Google Docs, Sheets, Slides - Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets has a new functionality that provides users iwith a local copy of their file instantly, making it easier to upload a file via a webform or share it in a Microsoft Office format. This feature is available in both the File drop-down menu and as a button in the right corner of a the screen.
- A new look for Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides views on the mobile web - Google is working to create a consistent experience for Docs, Sheets, and Slides viewers on the web and on mobile devices. Going forward, when users open Docs files on the mobile web and attempt to edit, they’ll be taken directly to the app or given the option to download it.
NOTE: Keep in mind that even when non-core apps are found in a core app (like Google Drive), they are not covered by the Google Apps for Education agreement.
