The groups in the MCommunity Directory will be synchronized to Google Apps in the UMICH domain. This will allow members of the U-M community who use Google Apps to share resources with groups as well as with individuals. For example, you'll be able to invite a group to a Google Calendar event and share a Google Doc with a group.
Groups will be synchronized in two phases:
- Phase 1. MCommunity groups will be available for use in Google UMICH, but details about membership and settings will not be available. Nothing other than the group's email address will be visible.
- Phase 2. Group settings, including privacy settings, will be synchronized to Google UMICH. Once this is done, membership and group settings information will be made available for viewing in Google UMICH as it is in the MCommunity Directory.
Group creation and management must be done in the MCommunity Directory.
The directory will remain authoritative for group information. Group creation and management will not be enabled in Google UMICH.
