M+Google Groups Not Syncing with MCommunity

Changes to membership of MCommunity groups, creation of new groups, and group deletions have not synchronized to M+Google groups since 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2012. Note that course groups, people profiles, and UMICH password synchronization are unaffected. Mail sent to a group or anything else that uses the groups in MCommunity is also unaffected.

If you used groups for sharing M+Google resources on or after October 2, those changes will likely NOT be present in M+Google. For example, if you added a new employee to an MCommunity group on October 3, that person will not have access to M+Google resources (such as a conference rooms, calendars, and Drive documents and folders) shared with that group. 

ITS staff and the M+Google project team are working directly with Google to resolve this issue. Group updates are being made and saved in MCommunity and will be synchronized to M+Google as soon as service is restored. In the meantime, if you maintain MCommunity groups or are responsible for managing shared M+Google resources, please take the following steps:

  • If you added someone to an MCommunity group that is used for M+Google resource sharing, on or after Tuesday, October 2:
    1. Check with the person you added to see if he or she can access the shared M+Google resource.
    2. If the person does not have access, add the individual manually in the resource's share settings.
  • If you removed someone from an MCommunity group that is used for M+Google resource sharing, on or after Tuesday, October 2:  
    1. It is likely that person has NOT been removed from the corresponding M+Google group. 
    2. Please contact the ITS Service Center for assistance.
