What: Microsoft Communicator Reminder & Update

On January 11, 2012 the Microsoft Communicator service will change service endpoints from umich.edu to meet.umich.edu. This change is in preparation for the campus implementation of Google Talk. (See the original post.)
Changes to Microsoft Communicator
To continue to use Microsoft Communicator, you will need to make a one-time change to your login address. After January 11, your new login ID is email@example.com where uniqname is your uniqname. Your password will not change. You will only need to make this change once.
After signing in, you may notice some internal contacts not showing up in your contact list. To fix this, log out and then log in again to force the contact list to update.
Some Important Impacts
Any of your contacts outside of the university (such as AOL, GTalk, or Yahoo contacts) will need to re-add you to their contact lists.
Note: Some instant messaging clients such as GTalk require that an email invitation be sent to add a contact. Since your firstname.lastname@example.org isn’t a valid email address, to have your contact added to someone else’s GTalk account, start a conversation with them. This will allow the GTalk user to accept you as a contact without needing an email invitation.
