Back in November, Google announced a plan to prevent the installation of Chrome extensions that were not published through the Chrome Web Store. As of today, Google has begun to enforce that plan. This change only affects Chrome on Windows.

With this change, extensions that were previously installed may be automatically disabled and cannot be re-enabled or re-installed until they're hosted in the Chrome Web Store.
