U-M Google February Updates

posted Mar 7, 2017, 10:07 AM by Amanda Hudeck

The monthly U-M Google Updates inform campus of Google releases for Core Apps as well as the Non-Core Apps (those that are not part of the G Suite for Education agreement). We communicate important information on Core Apps throughout the month. Core and Non-Core Apps are listed on the U-M Google List of Services page.

Core Apps:

  • Jump right back into the conversation with redesigned unread messages indicators in Hangouts. Now, when you enter a conversation where there has been a lot of activity, a “Jump To Last Read” button will appear. Clicking on the button will take you to the last unread message in your chat.

  • Link to cell ranges in Google Sheets. You can now create a “table of contents” in your spreadsheet to direct others to specific content within your spreadsheet, and retain links to cells when you import spreadsheets from other applications.

  • Google Sheets now has support for rotated text, accounting number formats, and more. Now you can rotate text, use better accounting number formats, and choose from even more border styles.

Note: Keep in mind that even when non-core apps are found in a core app (like Google Drive), they are not covered by the G Suite for Education agreement.
